Here we are with the second phase of painting of Thorin's Company. As you can see, the units themselves are coming together quite nicely. Most have muted colors, which will become more standardized with the washing they'll get in Stage 3. For a more detailed look, let's look at Thorin's kinband below... |
From left to right, we have Oin, Gloin, and Thorin. Oin carries a club (fashioned after the movie weapon), Gloin has a larger version of the axe his son wields, and Thorin carries his sword, Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver. In Stage 3, it will get its blue shine like Sting does (not sure if it's mentioned in the book, but I like that). |
In this shot are Kili, Fili, and Dwalin. Kili's bow has indeed been put horizontally and Fili has had no prominent edits. Still working on their swords (which I'll probably take Zorro's offer when I see him next), but Dwalin is set with a massive hammer, larger than a Dwarf's head. |
These warriors are Bombur, Bofur, and Bifur. Bombur's laddle turned into an odd cooking instrument, while Bofur and Bifur remain mostly unchanged. |
Finally we have Ori, Nori, and Dori. Dori's coloring has yet to come through correctly, but the rest are doing well. This shot didn't do justice to Dori's new hand, which you can see in greater detail below. |
From left to right, we have Thorin, Nori, and Dori, each of whom have special additions to make them more unique characters. Dori and Thorin have new sword hands, of course, but Thorin also has a fur lining on the back of his cloak and a two-handed axe. Nori has a flute in his backpack (originally arrows), since he carries a flute in the book. He also has a hand axe, in addition to his two-handed weapon. In the upcoming games, Nori will be equipped with throwing axes because of this axe featured, just to identify which burly two-handed weapon wielders have throwing axes. |
That about sums it up for now. Soon I'll have a post up with terrain enhancements.
